Formed in 1991, under the name Counters & Accessories Ltd, to meet the needs of
Traffic Engineers who require comprehensive and accurate range of traffic data collection
products, services and software to enable accurate data collection for the dynamic traffic environment.

In February 2006 Counters and Accessories  was acquired by Hill & Smith Holdings Plc to form part of their
'Infrastructure Products Group'.  Since then the company has continued to grow with the addition of a range
of Mobile Variable Message Signs and the unique Evolution ANPR technology.  To reflect the growth of the
company and the additional ranges, in June 2008 the company formally changed its name to CA Traffic Ltd.  CA
Traffic has a team of dedicated staff who continue to ensure that the company's reputation for providing good
service and low cost easy to use products is constantly maintained.

Loop Monitoring

Loop based monitoring solutions have been at the core of C & A's operations. From sophisticated profiling units to simple counting instruments, C & A products are focused on ease of use and reliability. The loop based traffic monitoring units are ultra low powered and can run reliably on solar powered sites for class leading periods of time on a single battery.
The specialist-profiling detector of C & A's bicycle-monitoring loop makes a satisfactory solution to monitoring cycle usage on a cycle path and on the road.

Solar Powered Telemetary

The C & A Traffic Monitor makes use of the GPRS network and has the ability to send back data at constant intervals and additional information when there is a significant change in the flow of traffic. This makes the Traffic Monitor useful as a tool for integration into the UTMC systems.

Radar Monitoring

C & A's Radar Recorder offers significant advantages over previous
across the road radar monitoring units. The most important of these is the 2nd generation processing algorithm, which is used to accurately deduce speed information. The sophisticated platoon splitting algorithm makes the Radar Recorder an extremely accurate counting device.

Tube Monitoring

C & A's new Minuteman EVR brings advanced ability to the tube recorder. Very sophisticated decoding algorithms and advanced air switch input make the unit one of the most accurate in the world.

Software

C & A has largely invested in software as a vital part of using C & A products, including the Palm OS for a PDA device and the more recently developed VDA-pro which has become the leading database in the UK for the management of large-scale traffic data collection operations.

Smiley SID

Speed Indication Display (SID) is designed specifically for road safety. The integrated radar measures the speed of an approaching vehicle. The speed is then displayed on the unit intermittently flashing with a 'Smiley Face' or a 'Sad Face' giving drivers the appropriate feedback relative to their speed. The signs encourage a higher reduction in speeds and are one of the most effective on the market.
